What is Ecstatic Dance?

Ecstatic Dance is a form of free-form, non-guided movement meditation, practiced in a judgment-free and substance-free environment. Community is encouraged to move however they feel, without specific steps or choreography, to a diverse range of music. The practice aims to foster a sense of embodied freedom, emotional release, earth connection, and community through uninhibited movement and expression.

Consent on the Dance Floor

Ecstatic dance is a space to move freely, drop into your body, and express your rawest self. Because it’s a non-verbal journey, honoring personal boundaries is what keeps the space safe and sacred for everyone.

  • Check in Before You Connect: Never assume someone wants to dance with you or be touched. Before entering someone's energetic or physical space, make eye contact, offer a gesture (like a bow or open hands), and look for a clear, enthusiastic visual "yes."

  • Listen to the "No": If someone closes their eyes, turns away, or brings their hands together at their chest in a prayer gesture, they are politely saying, "Thank you, but I’m riding my own wave right now." Honor their boundary gracefully.

  • Touch Requires Explicit Consent: Physical touch should only happen if it is clearly welcomed by both dancers. If you aren't 100% sure a touch is wanted, keep your hands to yourself and enjoy the shared energy from a respectful distance.

Your expression is entirely your own, and so is your body. Let’s look out for one another and co-create a playground built on deep respect.

What is a Song Circle?

In a song circle, we learn easy-to-memorize songs that we sing as a group. Sometimes there is a Song Leader guiding us, and sometimes we take turns leading songs as a community. It's not about perfect performances; it's about the joy of sharing music, singing together, and connecting with others through the universal language of song. All voices and skill levels are celebrated! The supportive group container welcomes exploration and play while reminding us of our power, truth and belonging.
